Lenses for Sunwear
Getting it right for your sunwear lenses is a combination of a number of factors:
UV protection |
Ultraviolet light (UV) can cause both short-term and long-term effects on the eyes. Short-term UV damage is most likely in situations with lots of reflected light, such as at the snow and on the water. All sunwear should block UV. |

Tint colour |
Tint colour has an effect on the way the world looks, and on contrast. |

Tint density |
Tinting can be applied to different intensities - tint density is usually described by the % of light blocked. |

Photochromatic/ Changing Tints |
There are two options in lenses that change their tint in relation to light levels: |

Polarised lenses |
Polarised lenses reduce reflected light more, and so are useful wherever there is a lot of reflection off bright surfaces - eg water, snow. |

If you need optical correction |
Making prescription sunglasses sometimes limits the styles available, so be sure to confirm that a frame you have in mind will work with your prescription. |
